The game is produced by the former Castlevania series producer, Koji Igarashi. The game follows the protagonist Miriam. Miriam is an orphan who is afflicted by a curse called alchemist. The curse is gradually turning her skin into the crystal. She must explore a castle filled with the demon and locate the summoner Gebel who as well suffered the same curse but a long time ago so that she can cease the curse.
Bloodstained follows the Metroidvania style gameplay. Miriam will earn powers by defeating enemies that are enabled by the crystals on her body. As a player, you can as well gain power from the items that can be used to make new armor and weapons.
